The resulting GIS has multiple coverages created and maintained in ESRI ArcInfo and ArcView. Cityworks is used to manage the relevant data, maintenance history and work order process for each feature in the network. In addition, there are a variety of other departments that benefit from Cityworks capabilities.

Since Cityworks was implemented in the spring of 2000 over 40,000 work orders have been generated. Over 98% of these work orders are attached to a feature inside the GIS; this benefit has been appreciated numerous times. In the summer of 2001 Waterford experienced a large number of power failures that affected many sewer lift stations and water treatment plants. Using Cityworks, work orders were created for each lift station and treatment plant. A report was then generated that detailed all costs incurred from the power failures. In addition, a map was developed that highlights lift stations and treatment plants that are prone to power failures.

gViz GIS Solutions - Best practice GIS solution for the operational and lifecycle management of assets.

More gViz Case Studies

© gViz 2009.
