ThiessThiess, Asset Management = Cityworks, an ESRI based Works Maintenance System The largest and most significant infrastructure program in Australia and part of South East Queensland Infrastructure Program and Plan (SEQIPP) has began implementing Cityworks, the ESRI based Works Maintenance Management System after receiving complete administration and end user training in just 5 days, including installation. The intended scope of Cityworks is to manage the assets both during the construction and then the operational maintenance of the road corridor from Brisbane Airport to the CBD. Being an ArcGIS centric Works Maintenance system, Cityworks is easily integrated into all GIS operations at Thiess and in doing so maintaining Thiess' project Asset Inventory. It is this Asset Inventory stored in the GIS database and managed by Cityworks that will enable Thiess to keep on working, knowing where assets are being built, with which equipment, labour and materials to provide tighter fiscal control on the Thiess operations and where these costs are being incurred. This approach to building and managing the development of infrastructure is to significantly add value to the corporate appreciation and innovation of GIS technologies, by leveraging the foundation information system that being the GIS and delivering real and tangible business processes for Works Maintenance using COTS technology. All costs associated with the development and maintenance of this infrastructure will be transparently available throughout the organisation, providing transparency and accountability in the successful management of Queensland's most significant infrastructure project.
